WAP Supports Enrission Opening Its First “Shirucafe” (Knowledge Café) Outside of Japan at Indian Institute of Technology

Works Applications Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, Chief Executive Officer: Masayuki Makino; hereinafter “WAP”) in collaboration with Enrission Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto; Executive Director: Yusuke Kakimoto; hereinafter "Enrission"), is to jointly open the first overseas branch of Shirucafe (Knowledge Café) at Indian Institute of Technology*1 Hyderabad (hereinafter IIT Hyderabad) this spring.

Providing A Global Environment for Entrepreneurial Employees

Working environment is becoming more and more competitive as digitization connects the world into one. According to a research about students’ readiness to join the workforce conducted by Harris Interactive, while close to 50% of students believe that they are prepared for the workplace, only 39% of managers would agree, indicating a significant gap between the two groups.

Enrission was founded in order to fill in such gap by providing face-to-face interaction opportunities for students and working professionals through Shirucafe. This concept mashes well with one of WAP’s corporate philosophies; “To provide the best workplace for entrepreneurial workers”. In fact, the founder of Enrission is former employee of Works Applications.

By opening the first Shirucafe at IIT Hyderabad this spring, one of the world’s top technology universities, both companies hope to help developing young personnel that can lead the next generation, while promoting exchange between India and Japan.

About Shirucafe

As online job hunting becomes more popular, less number of students has experiences directly interacting with someone in the company they plan to work for. This in turn has resulted in increasing mismatches between students and companies. After graduating from WAP, Yusuke Kakimoto founded Enrission in order to solve the problem to broaden future possibilities of students throughout the world.

Shirucafes is bringing job hunting from online to offline. At Shirucafes, students can interact with working professionals from their freshman year in college, therefore helping them to build useful career viewpoints and make suitable career choices.

With a unique business model of providing the service for free to students and charging companies looking for talents, Shirucafe has expanded into 10 locations in just two years. More than 2,500 students are visiting Shirucafe every day.
