TOKYO – July 5, 2013 - Works Applications, Japan’s largest ERP software provider, today announced it has been awarded the Grand Prize at the second Japan HR Challenge Awards which commends companies that have actively taken outstanding new initiatives in the field of human resources.

Works Applications received high evaluations for the five screening criteria of innovation, employee benefits, contributions to management, strategic characteristics, and social impact. The company was were selected for the Grand Prize from among 66 cases. The awards ceremony was held during the HR Summit 2013, Japan's largest event for people involved in human resources and management.

At the awards ceremony, the chairman of the screening committee, Koichiro Imano, Professor, Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Economics, Gakushuin University, said "To put it briefly, we have selected a company that feels like the future. Like the name of the award, we hope that you will continue to take up more and more challenges."

Works Applications was recognized for its “Comeback Pass” to welcoming returning employees. It is a system in which employees who have quit the company can return without going through the recruitment process and as a general rule be rehired with the same treatment as prior to their quitting if they come back within three years of quitting. Note that the system applies to employees with a certain level of skills or higher. In addition to respecting an individual's career plan, it has also become a system that supports the new challenges of starting a business.

Since the employees who have returned have done so after being outside the company and viewing the company objectively, loyalty and motivation are both high and they will be a good influence on other employees. Furthermore, the knowhow that past employees have absorbed after quitting and working at another company or in another environment will be returned to the company.

Additionally, Works Applications was also recognized for its “WAP Milk Club,” a childcare leave system which supports working women. The program was introduced by a task team formed by the male and female employees who comprise the workplace with the aim of achieving 100 percent return to work of women who have taken time off for childbirth.

It is a full-featured system which permits short-day working from the time pregnancy is determined until childbirth or graduation from elementary school and a bonus after returning to the workplace. In addition, connections with the company during childcare leave are provided through sharing of information via a network of working mothers and permission to attend the monthly general employee meeting and the Christmas party. Plus, Works Applications provides generous support after birth with special leave if a child is injured or financial support for childcare or babysitters.

Based on the idea of “Providing exciting opportunities for Critical Workers,” Works Applications’ corporate philosophy since our founding, the company will continue to strive to create a better environment so that employees can continue to choose to work at the company and exhibit their talents to the maximum possible extent.
