This is the second overseas opening of a Works Applications regional headquarters, following one established in Shanghai, China.

Enhanced support for Japanese business expansion
Since its founding in 1996, Works Applications has a company philosophy of “taking the information investment efficiency of Japanese companies to a worldwide level.” It has developed and brought to market its ERP package system, COMPANY, which includes resources for human resources/payroll, finance/accounting, supply chain management, e-commerce, and other operations.
The COMPANY series has become the number one ERP package in major enterprise markets. In particular, the HR series boasts a market share of more than 50 percent; has maintained its number one market-share position for 10 successive years (2002 to 2011, for major enterprises with annual sales of 100 billion yen or more, and license sales share, based on actual price to end users for human resources payroll management solutions, according to Yano Research Institute Ltd., as of December 2011); and currently has been adopted by approximately 1,000 major enterprises.
Today, many Japanese businesses are actively expanding their businesses into the Asia region. With this expansion in mind, Works Applications decided to establish a new hub in Singapore to help strengthen the international competitiveness of Japanese businesses.
Singapore has grown rapidly as a central location in Asia for fields that include international business, scientific research, technology development, and other areas. Works Applications is working diligently to absorb the various needs required for rapid product growth as well as assembling state-of-the-art technology and knowledge to support the global expansion of Japanese businesses.
Works Application has been heavily involved in IT technical research trends that include cloud computing and big data, improving work processes, scalability, and product improvements. The newly-opened Singapore headquarters has been charged with the mission of being a state-of-the-art technical research laboratory for those research areas and will take the lead on all Works Applications research and development.
Skilled local talent at competitive compensation levels
Works Applications has grown to approximately 3,000 workers in Japan and China. In addition, its own in-house system, organization development, and employment techniques have gained widespread global attention. In a survey conducted by the Great Place to Work Institute, an organization that performs human resources consulting, surveys, and training throughout the world, Works Application has been selected as a “Great Place to Work” for five consecutive years.
The Singapore facility currently employs approximately 20 people who have graduated from top-class IT universities in Asia. Further expansion is expected within this year to actively employ more than 50 people, including not only engineers, but sales and consulting personnel as well.
Works Applications will continue to actively create local employment opportunities. In addition to training global IT professionals, Works Application strives for superior working conditions to all its employees regardless of nationality, with the aim of raising the living standards of local employees.
“The opening of an office in Singapore, which is the geographical center of Southeast Asia, is cause for celebration,” said Hiroyuki Komatsu, managing director for Works Applications, Singapore. “This office will play a knowledge-intensive role for many enterprises, and will retain highly skilled personnel backed by Singapore’s high levels of education.
